Подготовка к уроку:
- Работа над общей темой происходила в течении 4-х недель.
- Учащиеся были разделены на 2-е равносильные группы.
- За 2-е недели до обобщающего урока было дано задание провести наблюдение и выяснить причины загрязнения воды и воздуха в родном городе.
- В составе групп обобщить собранный материал.
- Придумать знаки, призывающие к бережному отношению к природе.
Оформить стенгазету по теме “Экологические проблемы нашего города” с использование материалов урока.
I. Организационный момент. Сообщение темы урока.
Teacher: Today we have our conclusion lesson on the topic “Ecology”. Many years ago people lived in great harmony with nature because industry was not much developed. Today the situation is quite different. Nowadays industrially developed states can’t ignore the problem of environmental protection.
II. Фонетическая зарядка.
Teacher: I want you to pay attention to some words and word combinations. I think they will be useful. Repeat them after me.
- To exaust harmful waste;
- Necessary measures;
- An infringement;
- Centralized water supply.
III. Речевая зарядка.
Teacher: Now I think we are ready to discuss. We have already spoken a lot about problems connected with our topic. I want you to remember these problems and name them.
- pollution in its many forms(water, air, land);
- noise from cars, buses, planes, railway transport;
- the growth of population;
- destruction of wildlife and countryside beauty;
- destruction of the ozone layer;
- shortage of natural resources.
Teacher: You are quite right. All these problems are the result of man’s careless treatment of nature, aren’t they? There are many places on our planet which need immediate help and of course people must do everything possible to save our planet. And it will be interesting to know about ecological situation in our native town. So today we are talking about the environmental problems of Odintsovo and its region.
IV. Совершенствование навыков устной речи.

Teacher: You had a task in groups to watch and find out the sources of water and air pollution in Odintsovo. Please, be active. Who wants to be the first?
1. Высказывания учащихся первой группы об источниках загрязнения воздуха.
Teacher: (задание другой группе) And you, boys and girls, listen carefully to your friends and fill in gaps in the diagram and then you will tell us your opinion, may be you’d like to add something. Let’s begin.
Pupil 1: Our group worked at the problem of air pollution. We have taken some photos. Now let’s look at them.
As you see, factories and plants dump industrial waste into the air. The by-products of their activity pollute the air we breath.
Pupil 2: Cars and buses put a lot of smoke into the air. There are too many cars nowadays. There are often traffic jams in Odintsovo. They do a lot of harm to our town atmosphere and ruin the beauty of the countryside because many new roads are built everywhere
Pupil 3: I’d like to add the railways are also one of the sources of pollution, especially locomotives. One locomotive exausts as much harmful waste into the air as 40 or 50 cars
Pupil 4: You know that railway transport throws out into the atmosphere 300 kinds of harmful substances which change the structure of air. It’s very dangerous for the health of people.
Pupil 5: Some people’s activities do a lot of harm to forests and trees. They are cut down. Their disappearance upsets the oxygen balance. As a result some rare species of animals , birds and plants disappear forever.
Pupil 6: But trees disappear not only because of it. Every day we waste tons of paper made from wood.
Pupil 7: One more source of air pollution. We produce carbon dioxide when we burn things. Trees take this gas from the air and produce oxygen. There are fewer trees and of course, more dioxide.
Teacher: Thank you. (Учитель обращается к другой группе. ) Your opinion, please. What would you like to add?
Pupil 1: I think burning things pollute air too.
Pupil 2: I’d like to add about the ozone layer. This protective layer is being damaged by chemicals which are released into the atmosphere by the daily use of household products such as air conditioners, cleaning chemicals, sprays.
Pupil 3: We have made such a diagram.
Teacher: Thank you. Now let’s listen to the second group. (Учитель даёт задание другой группе. ) Listen and fill in the gaps.
2. Высказывания учащихся второй группы об источниках загрязнения водоёмов.
Pupil 1: Our group has worked at the problem of water pollution. As you know, there are a lot of ponds and lakes in Odintsovo and its region. But many of them are very dirty. People use them as a dump. As you see in this photo there are a lot of different rubbish in the pond such as plastic and glass bottles, paper etc. Fish isn’t eatable in many of them. Sometimes people can’t even swim there.
Pupil 2: Many times I saw that people washed their cars near a river or in a lake.
Pupil 3: I’d like to tell about “ building disaster” in Odintsovsky region. People have built a great number of cottages during the last years. People use a lot of water for their personal pools, saunas and greenhouses. And that is caused infringements in system of centralized water supply of other simple inhabitants.
Pupil 4: And besides, “new Russians” direct their sewer drains into the nearest rivers without ceremony, without caring that drinkable water is taken for needs of local population.
Pupil 5: Pesticides from fields get into rivers and poison them.

Pupil 1: We fully agree with you. We have made such a diagram.
3. Тезисные ответы учащихся.
Teacher: As you see we also have environmental problems in our town. Now I think it’s time to answer the question: ”What is it necessary to do to make our town better to live in?” Think and make your proposals according to your problems.
Pupil 1: People must discuss different ecological problems and make correct conclusions. Only common efforts will help to stop further pollution.
Pupil 2: Ecologically harmful plants must be removed from the town.
Pupil 3: People must plant more trees.
Pupil 4: To walk or use a bicycle instead of going by car.
Pupil 5: Not to litter the ground and water sources with paper, cans or bottles.
Pupil 6: Purifying systems for cleaning and trapping harmful substances must be widely used.
Pupil 7: To recycle used materials such as metal, bottles and paper.
Pupil 8: We must recycle most of things we don’t want or cannot use any more.
Pupil 9: People must change their way of life and their attitude to the nature.
Teacher: Your home task was to draw signs telling people about ecological problems. Put them on the blackboard. (Учащиеся вывешивают свои рисунки.)
V. Развитие навыков аудирования.
Teacher: Dear boys and girls! I quite agree with you. The positive results depend on serious attention of people of the whole world to the problem of environmental protection. I think you know some International Environment Organizations which try their best to help.
1. Now let’s listen to the text about one of such organization for the first time. Answer the question: “What organization is this text about?”

Greenpeace is an international environmental organization. It was founded in 1969 by a group of Canadian environmentalists. Members of Greenpeace appear in the places where the environment is endangered. They always act fast and bravely. The whole world knows about the Greenpeace actions to stop hunting whales or killing baby seals. They block the way to the ships that try to dump waste, and work hard to create a nuclear-free world. The activity of Greenpeace often annoys governments, companies and people who don\'t care about the future of the world. Sometimes Greenpeace activity can be quite dangerous. For example, on July 10, 1985, the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior, that was on its way to French Polynesia to protest against nuclear tests, was destroyed by French agents. It created a serious international accident.
Greenpeace has offices in many countries of the world including Russia. People, who can\'t take part in Greenpeace actions directly support this organization with money.
Greenpeace members are often referred to as "greens". The “greens" are groups of people whose aim is protection of natural things, e. g. plants and animals.
But nowadays it\'s more important to realise that every person should change his traditional lifestyle to become a "green" person to survive. That\'s why even children are taught ecology at schools. They discuss the ecological problems, study their own environment, try to become more friendly to nature. We can\'t stop using cars, they are necessary for us. But if we use them less, we will protect the air against the pollution. That\'s why in many countries people use bicycles more often for shopping or short trips. It\'s cheaper and keeps the air cleaner.
At our homes we should save as much as we can including water, gas, electricity resources.
We should be careful buying washing powders. Some types of them are friendly to our environment, but some are harmful and dangerous.
We should remember that we are part of nature, so we are endangered too. We have little physical activity, watch TV for many hours, work on computers, eat wrong food. We are destroying ourselves.
When people realise the importance of the environmental problems and change their lifestyle, half of work will be done. There is still hope.
